Terms of Use
By using Spot Bot (the website at spot-bot.co.uk), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the service is
Spot Bot is a free online tool that displays live and historical precious metal prices (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) and provides a calculator for working out the value of a piece of metal at a given purity, weight and percentage of spot. It is intended as a quick-reference tool for hobbyists, jewellers, scrap dealers, bullion enthusiasts and anyone curious about precious metal prices.
2. Not financial or investment advice
The site is for guidance only. Nothing on Spot Bot constitutes financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Prices are indicative, may be delayed, and should not be relied on as the basis for any actual transaction. If you are making a buying, selling, scrapping or trading decision, you should verify prices independently with a regulated dealer.
3. Accuracy and availability
Live and historical price data is supplied by a third-party market data provider. We make no warranty that:
- Prices are accurate, complete or up-to-date at any given moment
- The site will be available without interruption
- Calculations are free of bugs or rounding error
The site may be slow, unavailable or display incorrect prices at times. We do our best to keep it running smoothly, but offer no guarantees.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we accept no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive losses arising from use of the site or reliance on any information it displays. This includes (without limitation) financial losses from trades or transactions made on the basis of prices shown on Spot Bot.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site or its data for any unlawful purpose
- Scrape, automate or otherwise place undue load on the service
- Attempt to bypass the API proxy, extract internal credentials, or access non-public endpoints
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code beyond what is publicly viewable in the browser
- Resell or redistribute the price data as your own service
6. Intellectual property
The Spot Bot name, brand, logo, layout, code and content are owned by the operator. Content from the site (e.g. screenshots) may be shared for personal, non-commercial purposes provided the Spot Bot branding is left intact. The underlying market data remains the property of its provider.
7. Affiliate links
Some links on the site are affiliate links and may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
8. Spot Bot Pro (paid subscriptions)
Spot Bot offers an optional paid tier ("Spot Bot Pro") that unlocks additional features such as unlimited portfolio items, price alerts, and portfolio summary emails. Pro is offered on a monthly, yearly, or one-off lifetime basis.
8.1 Billing
Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge the payment method you provide for the selected plan at the displayed price plus any applicable taxes.
Recurring plans (monthly and yearly) renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. The lifetime plan is a one-off payment with no renewal.
8.2 Price-lock promise
The price you agree to is the price you keep. While your Spot Bot Pro subscription remains continuously active, we will never increase the recurring price you pay. If you sign up at a given monthly or yearly rate, that rate stays the same for as long as your subscription is uninterrupted — even if our publicly advertised pricing changes for new subscribers.
This commitment ceases if your subscription lapses, is cancelled, or is terminated for any reason. If you later resubscribe, the then-current price applies. We may change pricing for new subscribers at any time without notice.
Lifetime plan holders have, by definition, no recurring price to lock — they have already paid in full for ongoing access to Pro features for the lifetime of the service.
8.3 Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time from your Spot Bot account ("Manage subscription"), which opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then, and will not be charged again.
Refund requests for recurring subscriptions are considered on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of payment. Refund requests for the lifetime plan are considered within 30 days of purchase, after which the plan is final.
If the service is discontinued (see section 9 below), recurring subscribers will not be charged again. Refunds for any unused portion may be issued at our discretion.
8.4 Service availability
Pro features depend on third-party services (Stripe for payments, Resend for email delivery, Cloudflare for hosting and storage). We will use reasonable efforts to maintain availability but make no uptime guarantee, and the limitations in section 3 and 4 apply to Pro features.
9. Changes to the service
We may add, change, restrict or remove features at any time without notice. We may also discontinue the site entirely. The price-lock promise in section 8.2 applies only to the recurring price of an active subscription — it does not guarantee that any specific feature will continue to exist.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms. The price-lock promise in section 8.2 will not be retroactively weakened — once you have agreed to a subscription price, no future change to these terms will increase that price while your subscription remains active.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
